Our Company History
Northwest Butane Gas Co. dba Northwest Propane was started by J.B. Wood in 1946 with 1 Butane delivery truck based out of the Northwest Dallas area. With the eventual switch from Butane to Propane Northwest experienced exponential growth converting from just residential heating deliveries to providing refueling for forklifts, fleet motor vehicles, school buses, industrial and manufacturing applications, and wholesale services to other propane dealers. We are still 100% family owned and locally operated with facilities in Dallas (Carrollton), Forney, and Aubrey/Pilot Point.
Since our humble beginnings, Northwest has grown to be ranked in the top 50 Retail Propane Delivery Companies for gallons delivered in the United States for over 25 years running. Today, Northwest Propane has expanded to include Decatur Bowie Propane in the Northwest Propane family. Decatur Bowie Propane was established in 2019 when local companies Decatur Propane and Bowie Butane Gas Co. joined forces under the supervision of Northwest Propane.
